Dear William: Half A Year

Dear William,

Today you have been on this huge planet for half a year. 6 months. 26 weeks (and 1 day). 183 days. 4392 hours! The time has quite literally flown by. It feels like only yesterday that the only figure I could have written on paper was half a minute.

Over the last 6 months, so many things have happened; too many to document. We have had smiles and laughter, tears and sickness, highs and lows, so many firsts and so many still to come.

I will not lie to you, the prospect of your arrival shocked, terrified, and confused us. You see, the wise old doctors told us that you would probably never be possible and yet here you are! We worried about so many things; how would we cope with a second child? Would your sister be jealous or somehow miss out on things? Where would you sleep? And yet here you are! Occupying not only our home and lives, but our hearts also where you are firmly ensconced along with your doting sister.

You have changed our lives in so many ways, and the lives of all who have come to know and love you. Your sister is your biggest fan and favourite person – the smile when you see her is incomparable!

And now, as I watch you sleeping peacefully, I wonder how we were ever without you. 6 months feels such a long time, yet simultaneously a drop in the ocean and I cannot imagine a life without you in it.

My Little Wills.

All my love,
