Did you see what I did there? Fall… Autumn… Get it?! Yeah, yeah, I know, I’m a total genius wordsmith 🙂 It’s a poorly kept secret that I am in my absolute element this season. Although it feels like Autumn started well before September this year, exactly a week ago at 8:02pm Autumn took over from Summer and I came into my own.

I’ve loved Autumn for as long as I can remember. All of my favourite memories are from the season,
closely followed by Winter. And there are so many things to love. So many, in fact, that I had trouble narrowing it down to 5!

  1. Fashion
There is literally nothing better than Autumn fashion. 99% of my favourite outfits are designed for the milder days. I love nothing more than putting together an outfit with a little more thought than “what’s the least I can respectably wear?!” Boots in all shapes and sizes, oversized jumpers, rose gold jewellery, scarves, and hats. I love that almost any summer piece can be layered and transitioned so that Autumn fashion ends up being a kind of supercharged repurposed summer. And everyone knows that repurposed is way cooler than new 😉

  2. Sights, Smells & Sounds
Blossom is pretty, and the smell of a good BBQ is enough to make me crave a burger. But when September hits and  the leaves start to change, it brings with it some of the most beautiful things this country has to offer. The smell of bonfires, roasting chestnuts, chopped wood, warm apples & cinnamon; all these things make me go a little bit weak at the knees. I could spend entire days looking at the golds, reds and browns of the season.
  3. Activities
Walking in the woods (or anywhere really) is way more fun when there are huge piles of leaves to jump in, kick and wade through. Conker collecting never goes out of favour, and I love having conkers decoratively in the house too. Chuck on your wellies and you’re guaranteed some puddle jumping fun, too. Pumpkin picking can lead to days of fun activities; baking, carving, arts and crafts.
  4. Romanticism
Autumn is by far the most romantic season. Cosy jumpers & blankets, cuddles by the fire, sharing warmth. Somehow darkness in Autumn and Winter is different to the darkness of Summer. Obviously it gets darker earlier, so maybe it’s because we get to see lots more twinkly lights at this romantic time of year. Cosying up together when the leaves start to fall, whether it’s with a partner, your kids, or even your mum is one of the best things to do on a cold autumn evening.Autumn is by far the most romantic season. 5. Food
Salad’s ok. BBQ’s are great. Everyone loves a good ice cream. But what about warm apple and cinnamon pie with custard, one pot stews and casseroles (easy and delicious! Err, yes please!), bonfire toffee, toasted marshmallows, and of course the legendary PSL (that’s Pumpkin Spiced Latte for those of you wondering why I’m drifting into idle chat about my underwear). Autumn food is a sensation for all of the senses, just like the season is itself.

What’s your favourite season?

I love the fall, except for the turning back of the clocks. I hate the lack of light. I will try to focus on your things that are positive instead of the darkness! #fortheloveofBLOG xoxo

I absolutely love autumn too – i think partly because growing up in Ireland, hallowe’en was such a big and exciting thing. I’m also a lover of winter boots, wooly jumpers and apple crumbles so it all fits together quite nicely! lovely post thank you – i found you on #bigpinklink
